Pachakuti
In Quechua, “Pachakuti” means the return or the change of time. In the Andean worldview, this concept can refer to a revolution that turns the world upside down to restore balance.
Following the 2019 presidential elections in Bolivia, amidst a rising tide of authoritarianism across Latin America, a people rise, determined to fight for their freedom. This documentary follows the perspectives of three protagonists who represent different voices of the country:
An Aymara woman who migrated from the countryside to the city, now working as a domestic laborer and journalist within the feminist collective Mujeres Creando.
A Quechua kallawaya (traditional Andean healer) and political activist.
And the resistance formed by the students of the public university, fighting for justice and democracy.
Through these three perspectives, the documentary aims to reflect the complexity of the political, social, and racial issues facing Bolivia.
