Nakesa Ndou is a filmmaker and writer from Johannesburg, South Africa, with a passion for cra<ing bold and resonant stories. She studied a BA in Drama@c Arts before pursuing an Advanced Degree in Screen Produc@on at the University of Cape Town. She is currently working on her research paper about the African Female Gaze. Nakesa is best known for her short film, Mbokodo (Rock), which had its interna@onal and na@onal premiere at the Durban Film Fes@val. The film has gone on to win awards at interna@onal fes@vals, including the Discover Awards in London, and was a quarterfinalist at Le Fes@val Interna@onal du Film Pan Africain de Cannes. Nakesa focuses on wri@ng stories that centre women, cra<ing narra@ves for an African female audience. Through her work, she seeks to challenge perspec@ves and bring authen@c, mul@faceted female experiences to the forefront of cinema.
